All About Bruninho, Smartest Setter in Volleyball History

Bruno Mossa de Rezende, also known as Bruninho, was born in Rio de Janeiro. As a kid, he played badminton, but when he turned 14, he decided to focus on volleyball. He made this choice to honor his parents, Vera Mossa, former player Vera Mossa, and former player and coach of the Brazilian national team, Bernardinho.

Bruninho’s Volleyball Journey for the National

Bruninho started playing as a setter for the national team in 2007, under the guidance of his father, during the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he won his first of many victories with Brazil. Overall, he has earned 21 gold medals, 9 silver, and two bronze in various international competitions.

Bruninho continues to play for the national team, led by Renan Dal Zotto. He recently won gold medals in 2021 at the Nations League and the South American Championship. Throughout his career, he’s earned 16 individual awards, mostly as the best setter in competitions. The only exceptions are two MVP awards he got in 2019 at the Club World Championship and in 2021 at the South American Championship.

Bruninho’s Volleyball Journey for Clubs

Speaking of clubs, Bruninho currently plays in Italy, representing Azimut Modena. This is his second time playing for Azimut, and he has also played for teams Cimed Florianópolis, RJX, SESI São Paulo, and Funvic Taubaté in Brazil.

The player did really well in club competitions, especially when he was with Cucine Lube Civitanova. He got a silver medal in 2018 and a gold one in 2019 at the Club World Championship. He also became the champion of the European Champions League in 2019. In Brazil, he won gold in the Superliga six times. Five of those were with Florianópolis, and one was with RJX.

Bruninho is really good at volleyball, especially when he plays for the national team. He’s great at scoring points and helping his teammates score too. Even though he’s almost 40, he still shows that he’s really good and can play at a high level.
